11 Ways To Add Color To Your Home In Summer

Winter is over, Spring is in the rearview mirror, and Summer is here… with a vengeance in some areas.

Hopefully, you’ve completed your spring cleaning and if so, you’re likely like so many of us out here and you’re ready to spruce up the decor and add some color to your home.

Before you start inviting your best friends over for a garden party and cocktails, consider making these additions to your home to brighten things up.

Start Simple

Changing simple things like swapping out your throw pillows can definitely add some color to the house.

You can purchase fabric rather cheaply and if you use the stuffing from your current pillows, you can easily store the old fabric to use this coming fall or winter for another easy change.

Take It a Step Further

Since your best friend and fur-baby likely loves the couch as much as you do, consider reupholstering it and maybe a few chairs to add a good bit of color.

Bring Some of the Outdoors Indoor

New plants set strategically around the house can definitely add a splash of color but if you really want to set off a room, try a peony bouquet.

Let There Be Light

You probably have some great lighting on your patio, so why not inside? One of the easiest ways to add some color and brighten up your living spaces is with new lighting.

New color lampshades coupled with some new curtains can definitely add some much-needed color to any.

Don’t Forget the Floor

Another easy one to overlook is the new carpet. However, that can be a little expensive so you may want to opt for painting the floor or investing in a new rug.

Some Expressive Color

While a few paintings from artists like Jackson Pollock can definitely add some color to your home, you can also add some splash of color around the home yourself.

Accent Wall

While your favorite chicken pot pie recipe is slowly cooking in your instant pot, paint one wall. A single wall painted the right color with the right lighting is sure to make any room pop.

Storage Pieces

Whether you already own a bookshelf or you pick one up secondhand, a fresh coat of paint is a great way to add some color. Or, for it and perhaps your shoe bin or cubby, try just painting the shelves different colors for a change of pace.

Kitchen

Move into the kitchen and paint the cabinets as well. Paint is one of the easiest and best ways to add color and the best part is, you can choose the exact scheme you want to go with.

Speaking of the Kitchen

These days there are a wide variety of appliances available and you can find stoves, refrigerators, and dishwashers in a variety of colors.

Expand the Space… Sort Of

You may not be ready to knock down a wall to give your space a new look, but you can definitely give the illusion of such. With some of the above tips, try placing a large mirror on one wall to not only give the effect that the room is larger but to spread your new color even further.

No matter your current budget, getting some new color in your home is easy and definitely doesn’t have to be labor-intensive nor expensive.

Take the tips above, put your own twists on them, combine two or more, and spread some color with ease. Which of these color-popping tips will you try first? Share your interior design plans with us in the comment section below!
