Swaddling is the art of snugly wrapping babies in a blanket for warmth and security. Newborns are usually swaddled for the first few days until they are able to keep themselves warm. Consequently, swaddling keeps babies from moving too much even when they are crying.
Also, swaddling is also said to keep babies in a calm state.
Don’t babies look so cute all bundled up in fluffy blankets? And, don’t you wish you can just do the same on a chilly rainy day?
So, before you try swaddling your baby on your own, you might want to watch videos, ask an experienced mom or a midwife to teach you the proper way. Because wrong wrapping can cause problems to your baby’s tender bones and joints.
Setting the theoretical part aside, recent trends have greatly impacted the baby swaddling fashion. Hence, gone are the days of plain white baby blankets and come the days of patterned and graphic blankets!
Since there are so many to choose from, dads say moms take so long to choose. Apparently, men have no clue how difficult it is to choose from so many choices!
So mommies, here are our favorite choices.

Blue & White
She looks like a princess in this bright blue floral patterned blanket. Florals aren’t a personal favourite but I might just actually get one and use it as a scarf. Absolutely stunning!
Spring colors are always in! Such lovely and lively colors! This would be the perfect pop of color if used as a baby blanket in a monochrome nursery.
I personally love the color gray but the pink floral prints make the dull gray look more gender appropriate. Two thumbs up for me.

I so love the coachella feel this swaddling set has. The mint and gold colors compliment each other so well. How I wish I can get bed sheets with this print.

Cool Boy Patterns
Although this piece is more of the boy’s side, I still would not hesitate to have my baby girl wear this. Personally, I love the monochrome and minimalistic design.
As it turns out, muslin material is best for swaddling blankets because of how lightweight and soft it can be. Babies just love to be bundled up in muslin. Did I mention how cute the pattern on this blanket is?
Fuel your son’s love for superheroes even in his sleep. I absolutely adore this blanket and I’m sure any parent who’s a DC Comics fan would too!
Hedgehogs, leaves and a sleeping infant give the ultimate nature feel. I can stare at this all day and I would not get tired.
Look at that happy face! I want to pinch and bite his cheeks. The star studded blanket and hat just makes this picture even sweeter.
I have a strong feeling his parents are bikers. Thus, a swaddling blanket biker parents would absolutely love!
‘X’s are for kisses and ‘O’s are for hugs! XOXO
Every word a baby can be is printed on this blanket. Still, they can be more than what we expect them to be!
From the expression on his face, it seems like he’s hunting dreams. In other words, dream big little fella!
Simple yet chic. Plain yet eye-catching. I would totally use this as much as I would a colorfully printed blanket.
There are several things I really like about minimalistic designs. First of all, it’s easy to match other pieces with. Another, it never goes out of style.
These things are so easy to use. Since it comes with velcro tabs, swaddling your baby is as easy as 1-2-3.
I have always found plaid especially fashionable and wearable as much as a plain gray or black shirt is. Consequently, it is positive that I use plaid on my babies regardless of gender.
If I find a cutie like this in the middle of the desert, I would not even hesitate to keep him for myself because he is nothing short of adorable! Especially in this blanket!
This is probably the sweetest sweet anyone could ask for! He is as sweet as candy and even maybe bring the same amount of happiness ice cream does!
So, are you mommies ready to get swaddling?
In addition to the already mentioned benefits in my introduction, many of my friends have said that swaddling is the best way to keep your baby behaved. Rather than having a thrashing baby, learn the proper way to swaddle instead.
Learning would not be so difficult since the internet is crawling with tutorial videos. Another alternative would be asking experienced moms in your circle. Surely there would be at least a couple who are used to swaddling their youngins.
Finally, make sure you select your blanket carefully. They are not that expensive so pick one of good quality. If your child has reactions, replace the blanket immediately. Stick to light materials and opt for cotton. They’re more breathable!
So, what are you waiting for? Open a new browser and buy your baby a swaddling blanket!
