Staycation Spots That Will Soothe Your Soul

Could you do with getting away from it all for a few days? Post Christmas, dark, cold and wet, the first few months of the year are often challenging. But spring and summer are just on the horizon, bringing lighter, longer days and nature in bloom.

From improved mood to getting more active, the benefits of being in nature are well documented. Fitting in regular breaks can be easier said than done, of course.

Thankfully the UK offers plenty of places to do it, whether you’re looking for a cabin, camping or even a motorhome adventure. With a little planning and the right motorhome insurance in place, you’re all set to unwind!

Whittling down your options, however, can only add to your stress sometimes. But we’ve rounded up five of the best soothing staycation spots below to make that process easier!

Staycation Spots That Will Soothe Your Soul 1

Cornwall

No list of UK staycation spots would be complete with Cornwall. It’s been voted the UK’s favourite holiday destination for the past eight years in a row; it’s easy to see why!

May can be a great time of year to explore its estimated 300 beaches, giving you a good chance of decent weather without the heaving crowds. Book a surfing lesson or kick back with a pasty instead.

The Lake District

The Lake District is another show-stopping UK destination that’s great for a restoring getaway. Dust off your walking shoes and breathe in the fresh air and impressive views; you’d be forgiven for thinking you were in the hills of Austria!

If you want to fit in some rest and relaxation too, take a boat trip or set up camp in one of its many tea rooms.

Pembrokeshire

Not dissimilar to Cornwall, Pembrokeshire is a gem in the south west corner of Wales. The beaches of Tenby, Saundersfoot and Barafundle Bay are just as impressive, whether you plan to get in the water or lay still on the sand.

Make sure to stop in at St Davids on your travels; it’s officially Britain’s smallest city, and a pretty one at that.

The Cotswolds

The Cotswolds is known for its pretty villages such as Bourton-on-the-Water, Burford and Castle Combe. All of them make for pleasant days spent wandering between shops and cafes at your own pace.

There are plenty of engaging walks nearby if you fancy stretching your legs more too.

Edinburgh

The first city on our list, Edinburgh is one of the most stunning, interesting and lively found anywhere in the UK.

The Royal Mile, ending at the famous Edinburgh Castle, is a must if you haven’t been before. Climb up to Arthurs Seat for more fresh air and spectacular views or enjoy some retail therapy and great food and drink instead!

Could any of these staycation spots be just what the doctor ordered?
