How You Do These at Home?

To achieve a perfect coffin shape, you need long nails. Acrylics or gels are best for the perfect coffin, but it can be achieved with longer natural nails and a steady hand.

First, prep and shape – Clean your nails with a nail polish remover for a grease-free base to work from. Then you can file and shape your nails. Use nail cutters to cut diagonally down the sides of each nail to create a sharp point, and then square off the edge to create the coffin shape.

Create a smooth edge with a buffer to smooth out any ridges.

Push your cuticles back to elongate your nails and use a good quality cuticle oil or cream to keep them soft. Before you apply polish, always wipe over each nail with some extra remover to ensure you get rid of any residue from the filing.

Choose a light pink or nude for your base color, and apply in two or three thin coats, allowing each to dry completely before you paint on your white tip – you don’t want to be working on top of a smudged base!

French tips can be a bit of a learning process if you haven’t attempted them before, so we recommend starting on the very tip of the nail, using a thin striping brush if you can get one to apply a very thin line. You can keep adding to the tip until you get the desired tip length.

Carefully wipe away any errors with nail polish remover on a q-tip.

Once your design is dry, add a layer of clear polish to minimize chipping to make your set last longer.
