How to Do Matte Sage Green Nails at Home
Matte nails are one of the easiest manicures you can do on yourself at home.
Here are a few things to note before you get started. You can put a mattifying top coat over top of any polish you want, or you can buy an actual polish that is matte. Another thing to take note, the matte look tends to last longer than a regular manicure, so that’s nice.
If you were wondering about gel polish, they have gel topcoats that are dry matte. This way, you don’t have to miss out on the fun.
The manicure should include filing and trimming of nails to desired length and shape. Second, you need to push back the cuticles and clip any dry skin that is sticking up.
Buff the surface of the nail so that is smooth and the polish doesn’t look bumpy.
Pro tip: Matte polish shows bumps and grooves that might be underneath it, so be sure to clean the cuticle and buff the nail well.
Next, you will want to apply the base coat and cap your nail’s free edges, followed by the sage green polish and the top coat. Clean up any excess polish on your cuticle line with a clean-up brush that you dipped in acetone.
If you use a matte sage green polish, you do not have to apply any top coat. The sage green will dry matte on its own and does not need anything else on top of it.
But if you are using a regular sage green polish, you can simply add a matte top coat as the final step.
Later, after your polish is dry, you can put a dab of oil on your cuticles and some cream on your hands for moisture.
