How To Boost Your Winter Skincare Routine

A Winter skincare routine is important, since the weather is colder, and that means your skin needs some extra protection. There are many tips to pick from, but here we’ll focus on those that are easy to apply, regardless of your skin type.

The skin type you have largely determines your skincare routine and the products you use, so be sure to learn that before you move to other steps.

Still, winter skincare means you have to put in some extra effort, so here are some tips that will help you do so.

Winter Skincare Routine

1. Keep Moisturizing

A moisturizer is often the final step in one’s routine, and since the winter is practically here, it means you should boost your moisturizer game.

If your regular moisturizer is doing work, then great but if you want to switch to another one, then make sure that it suits your skin type and the weather alike. The winter moisturizer should be thick and nourishing enough to protect your skin from the cold, wind, and snow.

However, it should also be lightweight and free from ingredients that clog the pores and cause breakouts.

2. Lay off the Hot Water

Sure, there’s nothing more pleasant than a hot shower in the middle of the winter. However, boiling hot water isn’t that good for your skin, mainly as it causes irritation, redness, and excess drying.

So, if you have dry and sensitive skin, it’s better to simply use cold, or lukewarm water, in order to prevent irritation from occurring.

3. Don’t Forget to Remove Makeup

Sometimes, it’s easy to forget to remove makeup, especially after a long and tiring day. However, sleeping with makeup on is a skincare sin number one, as it can lead to premature aging, breakouts, clogged pores, and fine lines.

That’s why it’s crucial to wash your face before going to bed. Using makeup removing wipes is also a big no as they can be damaging to your skin. Instead, it’s best to look into why double cleansing is important, as that is the best way to rid your skin of makeup and other impurities.

No matter how tired you are, removing makeup should be a regular part of your skincare routine, especially in the winter, when skin is more sensitive.

4. Use SPF Cream

SPF products aren’t only for the summer. In fact, using an SPF moisturizer should be a must, even during the winter. Harmful UVA and UVB rays can damage the skin even during the cold and rainy weather, which is why it’s important to use them all year round. You should use the SPF as the last step in your AM skincare routine. In case you love wearing makeup, then look into SPF foundations or sprays that could be applied on the top of the makeup.

5. Treat Yourself to a Facial

A facial treatment used to be a luxury in the past, but nowadays, it’s possible to treat yourself with one, as they’ve become more affordable.

But, before you decide to make an appointment, make sure that a salon is reputable, and that all the staff has sufficient qualifications to perform facial treatments. Also, be sure to discuss things beforehand with the facialist, so they’ll know what treatment should be the best for you.

If this isn’t an option, then feel free to do an in-home facial, as that is also a nice way to have nourished and clear skin during the winter.

Conclusion

Boosting your skincare routine for winter is the best gift you could give to your skin this season.

These tips will help you get started, however, it’s also important to be consistent and patient, so your skin will look beautiful and radiant at all times.
