As a mom, you’re constantly running around and making sure that your children have everything that they need.

You take on many roles, like a taxi driver, bank, chauffeur, doctor, teacher, and maid – and that’s just in one regular day! When you’re constantly thinking about everyone else, it’s easy to neglect yourself and end up feeling run down and generally, a little fed up.

While this is totally normal to happen from time to time, it’s important to take care of yourself so that you don’t end up spiraling into a whirlwind of stress. Take a look at these tips on how you can learn to love yourself again, even as a busy mom.

1Pamper Yourself

Even women that aren’t girly girls enjoy a good pampering every now and then, and that’s because you’re finally doing something for yourself rather than worrying about everyone else.

Pampering can be anything from a back massage to getting your nails done at the salon. Why not get a group of your mom friends together and make a day of it? It will help all of you relax and also have some adult conversation for once!

Alternatively, you could take yourself off for a long, hot bath and let your troubles melt away!

2Get the Sleep that you Need

Sleep is one of the most important functions that our bodies do, yet as parents, there is no such thing as too much sleep. Use the same technique that you’ve used for your children – a better nighttime routine.

Even as an adult, it’s a good idea to give yourself some sort of routine so that your body and mind have time to relax and wind down before getting into bed. This could be reading a book, or having a nice warm cup of tea.

Treat yourself every day by getting the sleep that you need!

3Meditate

Meditation has proven benefits for your mental and physical health and even as little as 5 minutes daily can have a major impact. Find a few moments each morning to practice mediation, either on your own or using one of the apps that will guide you through it. For best results, practice meditation in regular yoga classes to give both your mind and body a workout you will benefit from whole day.

4Love Your Body

Easier said than done, right? Remember your body has been through a lot. Childbirth, recovery, shifting weight and much more. Give it a bit of love and show your appreciation for what you’ve been through. Treat yourself to a massage, facial or anything that will make you feel better about yourself.

5Take on a New Challenge

From time to time you may feel like all you do is be mom. While that is amazing in itself, it’s understandable that you feel like you’re stuck in the same routine day in and day out. Setting yourself a challenge can help you break out of this funk, and also give you time to be you without your children again.

Also, once you’ve completed the challenge, you will feel super empowered which is one of the best ways of promoting self-love. Perhaps you’ll enter a charity race, or you want to learn how to play the violin. Whatever tickles your fancy – go for it!

6Have Time Alone

Finally, when you’ve spent all day with your children, at the supermarket, in the playground, and anywhere else that you may have been, you might simply just need some time alone.

Get hubby to watch the children and take the dog for a walk, or do a spot of gardening. You’ll be surprised at how quickly you’ll feel better.

7Do The Things You Love

Figure out what makes you feel good about yourself and plan your week more intentionally – include as many of these activities as possible.

If that’s cooking, then make sure you have time & space to do it properly, not in a rush and between running around kids. If you love to spend time with your friends, make arrangements with your husband so you can get a few nights off during the week to catch up with your best friends. Watch yourself closely and everytime you notice an activity that brings you joy, put an active effort into doing more of it. It will pay itself back in no time.

8Practice Inner Bonding

Watch yourself closely and learn about the behaviors or habits that cause you pain. Keep a journal of these moments and identify patterns that repeat themselves. This is the first step that will help you find yourself again. Once you know what triggers these feelings of doubt and misery, you will be able to spot them and stop them before they develop any further.

Remind yourself every day to treat yourself as your own best friend. Leave a note for yourself next to your bed table or frame a quote that will remind you about it each night before you go to bed.

It’s important to look after and love yourself, so use these tips to give your mind, heart, and body what it truly needs to continue being the kick-ass mom that you are!
