Nude Ombre Nails: How to Achieve the Look
Nude ombre nails are a great way to start your summer off right. The look is subtle enough to be office-appropriate, but also cool enough that you can still rock it at the beach.
Nude ombre nails are simply nails that fade from one color to another. The colors usually go from light to dark, but they can also be dark to light or any other combination that you want! You can use any colors you want to achieve this look, but white is typically the lightest shade you’ll see in most tutorials.
The best part? You don’t have to go out and get a professional manicure to get this look – you can do it yourself! Keep on reading to see how.

Tips for Creating Nude Ombre Nails at Home
Nude ombre nails are trending this year, and we’re not mad about it.
This look gives a subtle nod to the classic French manicure and is super easy to do, too. If you’re looking for a new way to express yourself with your manicure, consider trying it out at home.
There are tons of ways to achieve this look, but we’ve put together a simple step-by-step guide to help you get started:
- Start by filing down any jagged edges on your nails. Apply an even base coat of polish on all of your nails. Make sure it’s nice and smooth before moving on to step two! After, apply two coats of your favorite nude polish over the entire nail.
- When your nails have fully dried, paint the first shade of your ombre with a thin angled brush, following the natural curve of each nail.
- Go over the tip of each nail with thin stripes going up towards the cuticle. This will create a soft transition between the two shades of color so that they blend together seamlessly!
- We recommend starting with the lighter color so that you can get an idea of what you want before adding more layers (and more depth).
- After letting your first layer dry completely, apply another coat of the same shade just above where you left off in step two (or above where it looks darkest).
- Make sure not to overlap too much with the original coat so that there aren’t noticeable lines where they meet together at the tip or edges of each nail bed. Aim for using shorter strokes instead!
How to Make Your Manicure Last Longer
You’ve spent a lot of time and effort on your manicure, and you want it to look good for as long as possible. Here are some great tips on how to make your ombre manicure last longer:
1. Don’t pick at the polish. Patience is a virtue!
You may love the way your nails look when you first leave the salon, but that doesn’t mean you need to fidget with them. The more you play with your nails, the more likely it is that they’ll chip.
2. Be careful during application
Don’t forget to make sure there’s enough polish on each nail. Use two thin layers instead of one thick layer. This will ensure that there are no air bubbles trapped under the polish and that it goes on smoothly and evenly (which can help prevent those pesky chips!).
3. Apply a top coat
This will seal and protect the design. It will also make your nails look shiny and fresh for longer.
4. Moisturize!
Use cuticle oil every night before bed and moisturize your hands regularly throughout the day. This will keep your nails healthy and strong so they can grow out longer.
