Choosing the Right Shade of Crimson Hair Color

Crimson hair has been on the rise for years, and it shows no signs of slowing down. It’s a bold move, but one that can really pay off if you do it right.

If you’re considering going for it, here are some tips for choosing the right shade of crimson hair color:

1. Consider your complexion – The undertones of the color should flatter your skin tone and bring out your natural beauty! Ask your stylist to advise on which shades would suit you best. This will help brighten up the vibrancy of the reds without making them look too orangey or pinkish.

2. Take your time – Start with a lighter shade of red, and gradually darken your hair over time. This will help you adjust to the color without committing to something you don’t like right away, or even worse – having to start over again.

3. Pick your aesthetic – If you’re looking for something more subtle than a solid crimson tone, consider going for an ombré effect instead! This will give you more options when styling because it allows for more depth in shades and tones across multiple levels of intensity. Nonetheless, don’t be afraid of bolder shades! Crimson hair goes well with all kinds of makeup looks – from your go to everyday look to dramatic smokey eyes and bold lips!

4. Consider your lifestyle – You’ll want to make sure that whatever shade of crimson you choose will work well with your everyday activities, whether that means avoiding rainstorms or knowing how to maintain it at home during those long shifts at work. Don’t forget – red tones tend to fade more quickly than other colors! But no worries, we have you covered with our pro tips on how to make your hair color last longer!

Making Your Hair Color Last Longer

If you’re a redhead, you know the struggle is real. You’ve spent all this time getting your hair color just right. You’ve got the cut, you’ve got the color, and you’re ready to go out there and show off that perfect shade.

But then it starts fading. And you have to spend money on another appointment at a salon to get it fixed. And why is that?

Hair dyes are made up of chemicals called pigments, which attach themselves to the keratin in our hair shafts (keratin is the protein that makes up most of our hair). Over time, however, these pigments break down and begin to fade away.

This process varies based on the type of dye used. Temporary dyes tend to fade faster than permanent ones because they don’t contain as many molecules that can bond with keratin.

So, how can you make sure your beautiful red locks stay bright and vibrant for longer? Read on for our top tips on how to keep your crimson hair looking fresh as a daisy!

1. Don’t wash your hair every day

Washing your hair too often can strip the color from your hair, so try to limit it to every other day. When you do – be sure to use a high-quality sulfate-free shampoo.

Sulfates are what cause the “squeaky clean” feeling you get when you wash your hair, but they can also strip color from your locks pretty quickly. If you want to keep your crimson hair looking vibrant, try using a sulfate-free option, designed for redheads, instead.

2. Don’t use too much heat

Whether you’re blow-drying or curling your hair, try not to use too much heat all at once. When you do want to heat style your hair – always use a heat protectant. This is especially important if your hair is already damaged! Otherwise, you’ll end up drying out the cuticle layer of each strand, which means less protection against fading as time goes on.

Avoid using hot water when washing your hair too – it will fade out the color more quickly! When washing your hair, you should use cool water instead – it’s best for your hair and scalp. You can also consider using a cold rinse afterwards, which will help seal in moisture.

3. Give your hair some extra care

After washing, use a deep conditioning treatment at least once per week (more if you have dry or damaged hair). The treatment should contain protein and oils like vitamin E or coconut oil.

Try using a leave-in conditioner on towel-dried hair before styling it with heat tools like flat irons or curling wands. This will prevent damage from heat styling while still adding moisture back into your strands. The conditioner should be moisturizing, but not too heavy.

Crimson is the new black. Or, rather, crimson is the new red – and it’s probably one of the more striking shades you can choose for your hair color. Are you excited to try it for yourself?
