Snake Plant Propagation
Snake plant propagation is a perfect way to have many of these plants in your home without buying new ones. There are two snake plant propagation methods that you can use and enjoy healthy, green, and not least happy plants in your home.
Roots Propagation

Propagation by dividing the roots is best to be done after the spring. Use a sharp knife to separate the snake plant roots. You need to be careful while dividing the plant. When you remove it from its pot, gently review the rhizomes. If your plant is too young probably it is not ready yet for root propagation.
Before you separate it, make sure there is one bigger rhizome and a healthy leaf for each new plant. After separating the plant from several young snake plants they should be planted in new pots. Initially, the care of a new plant consists of a little watering, and fertilizers can be applied after a month.
Propagation By Cuttings
Cutting propagation is a little longer process and you need to be patient. This is the ideal way when you want to grow multiple new snake plants at the same time. Adult lower leaves are the most suitable for this procedure. It is important that they are healthy. Snake plant propagation by cuttings is possible in both water or soil. Here are the steps you need to follow.

Propagation By Cutting In Water:
This method is like a kid’s game. Plus you can use some of the broken leaves, or the extra ones that pruned. Once you cut the leaf you want to propagate you can place it directly into a jar of water. Make sure it is covered in 25% water.
For a better result, you can dip it into root hormone. In case the leaf is too big, you can cut it into 2-3 smaller pieces and do the same with each piece. Make sure you place the leaves in the right direction- exactly like the plant stands in soil.
One of the tips you can use is to cut the leaf in a V shape so you can increase the surface where the new roots will appear.
After you place the cuts into a jar or vase, change the water every week or when you notice it gets cloudy. Place it on a warm, sunny spot in your home, where it will get enough natural light.
This process takes time, here is why be patient. It might take 1-2 months till you notice the first roots. After the roots sprout, you will be ready to plant your new snake plants into the soil.
Propagating Snake Plant Cuttings In Soil
The leaves should be cut and slightly dried, leaving them in the air for 2 days. in this way you will prevent them from bacterias. Then cut them into pieces, the size of each of them is from 5 to 10 cm. Place them into moisturized soil in the same position as they grow. You can place them in succulent soil in the beginning. It is a wonderful way to boost them to sprout. The sprout process takes approximately 1 month.
How To Take Care Fro Snake Plant

Light
In order to have a happy Snake plant and grow it green and healthy, the plant must receive enough sunlight. It makes it greener with shiny leaves. The ideal place for the plant are the sills of the eastern and western windows. The south window is also suitable, but in the hot season you will need to shade it from the scorching sun. Remember that if you place it in a shadow place it will slow down its growth and the light of the leaves will disappear.
Watering
Watering the snake plant should be insignificant, only after the soil is visibly dry. When watering, it is important to make sure that no liquid falls into the base of the leaves, as in this case there is a high chance that the plant will begin to rot.
Fertilization
To improve plant growth, you can use the following types of fertilizers: special fertilizer for cacti and succulents; complex boosters for indoor plants. Add additional fertilizers once per month. It is better to give boosters with potassium and phosphorus.
